BTCUSD Analysis: Will the Bulls Step Up?

shawn

In this comprehensive analysis, Ultima Markets brings you an insightful breakdown of the BTCUSD for April 7, 2026.

Technical Analysis of BTCUSD

BTCUSD Daily Chart Insight

Technical Analysis of BTCUSD
  • The failed breakout above 70,000 signals a classic “bull trap,” with momentum now sharply reversed and price breaking below dynamic support (purple MA). The 68,380–68,700 zone is the key level to hold — until stabilization or a reversal pattern emerges on lower timeframes, catching a falling knife here remains high risk.
  • Key Levels: On the upside, the descending black MA forms a stiff dynamic ceiling at 71,300–72,000, where price has faced repeated rejection over the past two months. A break above opens the door to 74,350–75,000, whose clearance would end the sequence of lower highs, with 83,300 — the last major swing high before January’s collapse — as the final overhead barrier. To the downside, immediate support sits at 66,363, a level buyers have actively defended since late March, while the critical macro base at 60,000–62,400 remains the line in the sand for bulls — a failure here would signal a resumption of the broader downtrend.

BTCUSD 2-Hour Chart Analysis

Technical Analysis of BTCUSD
  • The Stochastic confirms the current pullback — having pushed deep into overbought territory during the recent surge, the %K line has since crossed below %D, with both now pointing sharply lower at around 58/67. This bearish crossover signals that short-term momentum has shifted to the downside as the indicator works off its overbought condition.
  • Breakout Scenarios: For the uptrend to be confirmed, price needs to hold the 67,800–68,400 zone, find support at the Green/Black MAs, and print reversal candles while the Stochastic resets into oversold territory — a subsequent breakout above 70,300 would confirm bulls are back in control. However, if selling pressure persists and price closes consecutive 2-hour candles below the Green MA (~67,800), the recent bullish breakout is invalidated, suggesting the move to 70,000 was merely a lower high, with 66,500 as the next likely target.

BTCUSD Pivot Indicator

Technical Analysis of BTCUSD
  • Bears are firmly in control on this timeframe. Traders should resist the urge to catch a falling knife and instead wait for price to either interact with the 68,000 support zone or form a clear consolidation pattern before assuming the sell-off has run its course.
  • Bearish Continuation: Given the momentum, the path of least resistance is down. If we see a 30-minute candle close cleanly below the Black MA (~68,800), expect a swift move down to test the Green MA around ~68,000. A failure to hold the Green MA would suggest the entire recent rally was a “bull trap.”
  • Oversold Bounce: Because the Stochastic is deep in the oversold territory, shorts may take profits, causing a temporary bounce. If buyers defend the current ~68,600 – 68,900 area, look for a weak push back up toward the Purple MA around ~69,300. However, until price can get back above ~69,300 – 69,500 and form a “higher low,” any upward move should be treated with extreme caution as a potential shorting opportunity (a lower-high).
