USDCAD Breaks Below 1.4000: Fair Value Gap Pulls 1.3940–1.3910 Into Focus

georg

USDCAD has come under renewed selling pressure after another rejection from the upper boundary of its broader rising structure. The pair has now fallen back toward the psychological 1.4000 level, while momentum on both the daily and 4-hour charts continues to deteriorate. With a daily fair value gap sitting directly below current price, the 1.3940–1.3910 region is emerging as the next important downside objective.

USDCAD Daily Chart Analysis

On the daily chart, USDCAD has reversed sharply after failing once again near the 1.4280–1.4300 resistance region.

The rejection is technically significant because it occurred at the rising trendline connecting the major highs formed since late 2025. Buyers tested this boundary several times, but the market was unable to establish itself above it. What followed was not a mild pullback: USDCAD quickly surrendered the latest advance and returned toward 1.4000.

The recent bearish candles show a clear change in control. After the market stalled near the highs, sellers began producing progressively stronger downside sessions, with very little evidence of sustained buying on the way down.

Momentum confirms that shift.

The MACD (12,26,9) has rolled over sharply from its recent peak. The MACD line has crossed beneath the signal line, while the histogram has moved into negative territory. This bearish crossover suggests that the momentum behind the September–October rally has faded and that downside pressure is now gaining traction.

The next area of interest lies immediately below current price.

The latest rally left behind a fair value gap in the 1.3910–1.3970 region. With USDCAD now pressing below 1.4000, that imbalance becomes a natural technical magnet if sellers maintain control.

Within this zone, 1.3940 is the first important reference level. Below that, 1.3910 represents the lower boundary of the marked support structure and sits close to the rising daily trendline.

That confluence makes the 1.3910 area especially important. A decline into the FVG would still leave the broader rising support structure intact, but a decisive break beneath 1.3910 would represent a more meaningful deterioration in the higher-timeframe setup.

Key Levels:

  • 1.4000: Psychological level and immediate breakdown area.
  • 1.3940: First downside objective inside the daily fair value gap.
  • 1.3910: Key support, lower FVG region and rising trendline confluence.
  • 1.4280–1.4300: Major resistance and the origin of the latest bearish reversal.

USDCAD 4-Hour Chart Analysis

The 4-hour chart makes the bearish shift even clearer.

USDCAD has been declining steadily since topping near 1.4300, producing a clean sequence of lower highs and lower lows. The latest leg has now pushed price decisively beneath the 200-period moving average, which is trading significantly higher around the 1.4080 area.

That development matters.

During the preceding rally, the 200-MA acted as an important trend filter. Price trading above it supported the bullish structure. USDCAD is now firmly below the average, and the 200-MA itself has started to flatten after its previous rise. This signals that the medium-term bullish momentum is losing control.

The Fractals indicator supports the same bearish interpretation. Recent upper fractals have formed at progressively lower levels during the decline, confirming that sellers are consistently entering the market on rebounds.

The Bears Power (13) indicator is also negative, currently near -0.0021. This confirms that sellers remain dominant relative to the underlying moving-average structure. While bearish pressure has fluctuated during the decline, the indicator remains below zero and continues to support the downside bias.

Price is now hovering around 1.4000, making this the immediate trigger level.

A sustained move below 1.4000 would leave relatively little nearby support before 1.3940. If that level fails to generate a meaningful response, the next target comes in at 1.3910.

USDCAD Bearish Continuation Scenario

The daily and 4-hour charts are now pointing in the same direction.

On the daily timeframe, USDCAD has been rejected from major rising resistance, MACD has turned bearish, and price is approaching an unfilled fair value gap. On the 4-hour chart, the pair has broken below the 200-period moving average, continues to form lower highs and lower lows, and Bears Power remains negative.

The key question is whether sellers can keep price below 1.4000.

If they can, the fair value gap becomes the obvious next destination, with 1.3940 acting as the first target and 1.3910 as the more important support below.

The 1.3910 region is where the move becomes particularly interesting, because horizontal support, the lower part of the imbalance and the rising daily trendline begin to converge. That area could attract fresh demand — but until price reaches it, the current structure continues to favour further downside.

Bearish path: 1.4000 breakdown → 1.3940 → 1.3910.
